I couldn’t tell you what he looked like

But he was magnificent in my sight

His words more than lies

To fill my heart to turn blind eyes

Smile and say “it’s okay “

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

Private man with walls so thick

But he shows me what makes him tick

Peeking through the crack

I start to see heart in attack

No wonder closeness is hard won

I’ve only just begun

Bleeding wounds and scars so plain

All I want is to heal his pain

Smile and say “it’s okay”

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

Crack is gone

My time is done.

Rejected cold an outsider alone

Wounded hurt out in the friend zone.

Smile and say it’s okay

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

Slowly I abide building steps

Thinking this will help

Not forcing not prying just scaling

This wall without an ending

Smile and say “it’s okay”

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

Finally I find an open window

I sit in silence and shadow

I wait for him to notice

To see past the surface.

Smile and say “ it’s okay”

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

My hand to the glass pane

Hoping I’m not slain

He stalks around the cage

Trying to hide his rage

Smile and say “it’s okay “

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

I don’t ask I wait

For his pain to dissipate

He scales the wall still miles away

I want to carry him away

Smile and say “It’s okay”

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

The loneliness is palpable

Trapped in his own defenses so capable

Silence comfortable we understand the other

No need for words they’d just hurt the other

Smile and say “it’s okay”

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

The glass begins to warm then shatter

His eyes smolder cold bleak and tatter

His defenses weakened disabled for the moment

I sit and ponder ruminate

Smile and say “it’s okay “

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

He climbs the wall and by the window shattered

He holds his hand a beautiful disaster.

I take it softly giving time to run

I wasn’t playing a game I had not won

Smile and say “it’s okay “

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

He was free to be he

Yet he was still touching me

Brick by brick the wall crumbled

My heart fell and tumbled

Smile and say “it’s okay “

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay

Iwas forgone pure love

But he flew away like a dove

Once I took his place

Within that lonely place

Smile and say “it’s okay”

I will always stay

My loyalty to pay
