For you I have fallen; I wish you could see,

That I never wanted this feeling for me.

And look at me now; clueless, I say,

I lie and I bluff to this very day.

My mother says that those who do fall…

In love; are just doomed to lose it all.

And I believe her; at least I do now,

Because to let go; I never knew how.

And this is painful; I reach for your hand,

But it’s not there; and I can’t understand.

That’s why I am cold; that’s why I am void,

To be neglected I never enjoyed.

It’s taken a lot to live with this sin,

It’s taken much more to build this thick skin.

If I don’t pretend that I do not care,

You’ll keep on hurting me; and that is not fair.

It’s taken me years to master this art,

And yet I cannot prevent you breaking my heart.
