Super Potato - The place wasn’t as crowded as the night before. Most of the customers were preoccupied with their gambling, but I still had to watch my steps. The arcade was mostly occupied by young people, spending their allowance on ‘meaningless’ fun. The Pachinko machines were handled by an older generation, gambling their hard-working money away. Well knowing that their family would give them a world of trouble if they found out about their hobbies. On the other hand, most of the people in here probably didn’t even have a girlfriend, let alone they were married. It’s a well known fact that most Japanese people are single due to their relationship with work. Most of the people my age still live with their elderly parents, even depend on them financially. So what did they have to lose?

The sound of metal balls rolling around gave an indication that people were losing money tonight. There was a certain smell of despair lingering around the arcade. Something I hadn’t noticed the night before.

This was probably the only thing that gave the slightest bit of meaning to their lives. That, and the Red Light District. If by some miracle they hadn’t lost all their money on gambling and alcohol, they would spend it on a nigh of meaningless sex. The Red Light District was full of woman to chose from to fulfill their wildest, even weirdest desires. I’m not going to lie, even I have thought of going there back home, but for my own reasons. Being an awkward, quiet young boy growing up in the prime of his life, I didn’t really got the attention of the female sex. So of course I have longed after a female touch.

I was especially on the lookout for ‘Dumb and Dumber’, the two large men who escorted me out the building last night. As long as I didn’t see them and I avoided the few camera’s that surveyed the place, I would be safe. I made my way across the several arcade machines, looking for the way Hirohito guided me through last night. By the time I saw Pac-Man and Frogger, I knew I was on the right track. Then, I saw the door leading to my destination at the end of the hall. Carefully calculating my every move, I slowly moved closer.

By the looks of it, someone left the door ajar, the white sheets inside created a white glow into the ill-lit room. It was odd for a door to be left open after last night. I was sure they would have shut, locked and double bolted that door in order to prevent someone else to discover its secrets beyond. I pushed the door with as little as power possible, yet it swung open with ease. I looked over my shoulder one last time, making sure no one would see me entering.

There it was, the Pachinko machine, plugged out again, but the white sheet that covered it the last time, was still heaped up on the ground next to it.

They definitely didn’t do anything to secure this place after last night  I thought to myself. This was all way too easy, almost as if they wanted me to return here. But why would they want that, it just wasn’t possible. Still, I closed the door behind me, making sure that the bright colors from the machine wouldn’t attract any unnecessary attention. Once I plugged the machine back in, the entire room was lit up with the same bright white light, accompanied by an electronic sound of the machine powering up. I didn’t think I had to beat my own high score from last time to continue playing, but I was wrong. In order for me to continue, I had to play the Pachinko machine again. Even though it was my own high score, it still took me several attempts to beat it. After the fourth time I finally saw the same two lines of white text on the other black half of the machine.

I moved the joystick to Continue this time. Two handles appeared once again on both the left side and the right side of the machine. I knew what was going to happen next, but it still took me by surprise when the needles penetrated my skin. This was it. This is what I was waiting for. I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve, waiting to run downstairs to open all the presents that Santa had left him.

Once again, the whole room was filled with the screeching sound of the Pachinko machine and the whole room started to spin, ready to warp me into whatever world was coming next..
