teach me how to breathe

and live in these moonbeams

teach me how to breathe

and sit inside the sea

teach me how to breathe

and learn to like to eat

teach me how to breathe

and be the last moonbeam

i have never seen the sun

and the sky it hides from view

but when the night comes round

its the moonbeams and you

i have never seen the sea

and the grass they push me back

but when the night draws close

the moonbeams in the black

i have never touched a tree

and the sand it shies away

but the night, it is near

and the moonbeams in the bay

you are most elusive

you hide in the plainest of sight

i sit here with my eyes shut

and pray to the lord for night

i want to spend my nights

the lights and backdrop of stars

i want to spend the mornings

the sun and buzz of the cars

and i want to spend my moonbeams

i know that theyve all flew

spend my sunsets

with you
