That Hate

Sometimes when you look at me,

it should come as no surprise,

but still it sometimes startles,

the depth of hatred in your eyes.

I know that I have failed you

and I know you feel it too,

but I’ve tried and tried so many years

so what else could I do.

Help is hard to come by, it’s value is in doubt,

but I have been quite resolute in keeping up the fight;

still you’ll turn those eyes on me, full of accusation,

there’s really nothing I can say for in many ways you’re right.

I guess that we were destined

by some strange curse of fate,

that has made you so dependant

and so very full of hate.

We both are hit by guiltiness,

and both get struck by shame,

but the one thing we agree on

is that I have to bear the blame.
