Divine Remedy

Oh, how my heart longs to be pure!
How I crave for the divine cure!
You see, I was born infected with sin,
this stubborn deadly virus from within.

It follows me like my own shadow,
or like an old lover refusing to let go.
Always calling and pulling at my desire,
wanting to draw me near the lake of fire;
claiming to bring pleasure and joy,
all the while -my life- it seeks to destroy.

Who can rescue me from this death trap?
Who is able to -my soul- unwrap?
I thank Almighty God for His Son Jesus,
His extravagant gift of love to us.
He's the Author and substance of my hope,
Who can save me from sin’s slippery slope.
