this short poem describes the pleasant lure and inevitable deception of nostalgic feelings.

Sweetly lies Nostalgia

Oh, how she lies

Sweetly she lies

A siren song of bygones

 Promises of long-lost lovely things

Truth’s tarnished bits

Buffed bright

Oh, how she lies

Sweetly she lies

Languid vision draped in shimmer

 pictures of once was

luring you,

oh, how she lies

sweetly she lies

offerings of sweet honey treats

fragrant, sensual reminders

palate pleasing

flavours of youth

oh, how she lies

how sweetly she lies

without yield you may love her

from afar

for now

venture near to discover pose

in focus disjointed;

memory piecemeal and raucous strain

Oh, how sweetly nostalgia lies

 she lies
