Protect your heart and soul, no matter what life throws at you.

I am made of stone

Sculpt me into something beautiful

Shape me with your thoughts, your desires

Or destroy me with your rage

Your chisels chipping away at me piece by piece

I won't say a word, not even breathe

Until I become nothing more than a scrap

Of what could have been

Artificial, an illusion, hopes dashed

My very core damaged

Trapped inside the mind of another

What possibilities does this petrification allow

Just emptiness, not even a sound

Anything to make sense of what is real.

They form me into what they want

They carve me with their beliefs,

Their disapproval overwhelming

No thoughts, no feelings of my own

What is freedom at the hands of another

When you're stripped of all ambition and dreams

To be more than just a hardened soul.

Beautiful writing. Socieity's chisels don't leave much left of the original given the chance, and your words illustrate this perfectly.

Yes, sadly, society tries to mold us into what we 'should' be, but it is just an illusion. Individuality makes us who we are. Thank you so much for your feedback and I'm so happy you enjoyed reading this poem!

Derina Peng

A beautifully forged poem. It made me thought of Dawain Theory and the God's teachings. I think that is why our society's chisels are so blindly, remorselessly sharp into making people into stones.

Oh yes, very interesting that you say that up and so very true! It is so important that we maintain our unique identities no matter what, I believe that individualism leads to more progression and growth. Thank you for reading my poem and for your thoughtful feedback!
