Light and the hope that comes with it

The light shines into my room. And even though it touches me, it never touches the dark part inside. I sit by the window for hours wondering if it ever will. It warms my skin. Someone once told me the sun was God's way of smiling at us. Instead of comforting me, like it was intended to, it sickened me. It made me feel as though He was mocking me. I felt childish for thinking of it like that, but honestly I could not help doing it.

Then one day the light was different. It was the day I realized I was in love with boy. He made me smile and laugh. He never knew about the pain behind my eyes. I never want him to know about it; I want him to see me as the bright humorous girl I always pretend to be. He filled my world, and made it bright. And just like that the light changed. It filled me, and I feel as though I must burst from it.

And everyday I imagine telling him how I feel, but the fear that it might change the light back to what it was stops me. So I silently love him, and imagine what a life with him would be like.

Ruth B. Dandelions my song for him.
