How could her day get worse than this? She asked herself as she tried to get back up on her feet, knowing well she couldn't even walk back to her place since she had probably twisted her ankle badly after she had tripped over a tree root she hadn't seen.

"Damn it!" She muttered as she thought about her old neighbor Dolores who had lost her dog, claiming her Golden Retriever had run toward the forest behind her house. She had accepted to look for her neighbor's dog, knowing well that she was old and that she couldn't go by herself in the forest, and plus this dog was like her baby and Michelle wanted to find this dog, or at least tried to...

She shook her head as she tried to walk forward but immediately winced in pain when she applied pressure on her left foot.

She didn't even know how she would get back home with that injury and slowly, Michelle began to panic as she concluded that she would be stuck in this forest unless someone was passing by. It was getting late and she remembered that a thunderstorm was expected for tonight, which didn't help her at calming herself down after realizing that if she wasn't walking back home, she'd be left in this forest and in the dark by herself.

She tried again to walk, but the pain resulting from the mere pressure on her foot sent her crying in pain and the young woman sat down on a grey rock and looked up at the threatening sky, breathing rapidly before yelling out for help.

There was one problem though, she had walked during 20 minutes in the forest while yelling the name of the dog several times earlier and she knew it was almost impossible that someone would hear her screams for help at this point... The more she yelled for help, the more she became hopeless that she'd return home before the thunderstorm would pass over her town.

What she had feared the most became a reality for the young blonde woman when lightning flashed over her head and thunder rumbled loudly through the forest. It motivated her once again to try to walk back to her place, but she didn't even manage to walk more than five minutes on her foot, before letting herself fell down again on the ground, crying endlessly as the rain poured over her and that a drastic change of temperature in the air sent her shivering since she was drenched. The Thunderstorm didn't last long but the night came pretty quickly and Michelle tried once again to walk on her foot, but the pain was unbearable and she didn't even know at this point the trail that led back to her place. She was surrounded by complete darkness and noises coming from night owls, Crickets and rustling leaves kept startling her.

"HELP!!" She burst out in tears, knowing well that she was going to spend the whole night by herself in the deepness of these woods. Not only she was scared to death, but she was thirsty and quite starving as well and she was soaking wet and quivering due to the low temperature surrounding the forest.

She was lost and she knew it. She actually had no idea how to regain the trail that had led her in the deepness of this forest and it was obvious at this point that she wouldn't find her neighbor's dog. She tried again to walk on her twisted ankle and this time, she kept walking forward even though the pain was really intense. She walked for a good long 10 minutes before sitting down on the cold and wet forest ground, knowing well that she just couldn't keep on walking any longer. She'd simply aggravate her injury and she didn't want this.

"PLEASE, SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!" She screamed on the top of her lungs, once again left with no answers as Michelle called for help. She regretted not bringing her smartphone with her, she was always carrying it with her, but not today... How dumb she thought she was for not bringing her smartphone with her, if she had brought it, she wouldn't be stuck in this forest, shaking and crying with a twisted ankle. She'd probably be back at home and rest in her bed, alas, she wasn't in her bed and she knew that crying was useless, but she couldn't help it. She brought her ankle closer to her eyes and she took off her sneaker and pull down her sock before touching the side of her ankle only to realize how swollen it was. She winced in pain at the mere touch of the swollen and red skin around her ankle. When she tried to put back her sock on, Michelle gave up since it was too painful.

It was getting colder for her, and she had no way to keep herself warm since she was only wearing a romper. She crossed her arms over her chest while endlessly quivering and gasping every time she felt a sharp pain in her sprained ankle while fantasying about wearing one of her warm and comfortable pajamas, she closed her eyes for a moment, picturing herself sleeping between warm sheets and it almost brought a smile on her lips.... She was exhausted and pretty vulnerable at this point, wondering how many hours had passed since she had left her house. Perhaps her neighbor Dolores would find it strange that she hadn't returned home yet. She was hoping for this sort of scenario where Dolores would call the cops and inform them that she hadn't come back from a walk in the forest... She tried to believe that Dolores had perhaps already called the cops and that soon this would be over for her.

"HELP!!" She screamed again for help while tears streamed down on her cold cheeks and that's when she heard tree branches on the ground cracking as if someone was stepping on these branches. Her whole body tensed up, frightened and unsure if it was someone approaching her or if it was her neighbor's dog.

"Baxter?" Michelle called out the name of her neighbor's dog, thinking it could be him approaching her. Her blue eyes widened in fear and for a short moment, Michelle didn't even feel anymore the pain coming from her sprained ankle...

She flinched when someone pointed a flashlight in her direction, which took her by surprise.

"Oh My! Now, I wasn't sure if I had dreamed this, I kept hearing a voice calling for help and I almost thought I was going crazy, but nope!"

It wasn't her neighbor's dog but a man. He finally bent down to her since she was sitting on the ground and Michelle burst into tears at the sight of someone standing next to her. She wasn't alone anymore and would be brought back home in no time.

"Please, please help me! I twisted my ankle while walking in the forest!! I'm so cold!!" She stuttered incoherently while she was sobbing loudly. The man smiled at Michelle and passed a hand in her short hair before chuckling at her.

"Alright, alright, calm down sweetie, I'm here! I will help you..." He saw how cold she was and he took off his North Face rain Jacket and gave it to Michelle.

"There you go, put this on." He zipped the rain jacket once Michelle had inserted her arms into the sleeves. The jacket was obviously too large for her petite frame since the man was 6'4" tall, he even had to roll up a bit the sleeves so her hands could come out. He aimed the flashlight down on her injured ankle and he sighed when he saw the swollen ankle.

"No wonder you can't walk on this. Quite of a bad sprain, you have there!" He put down the flashlight for a moment and picked up Michelle in his arms and he grabbed back the flashlight from the ground before standing back to his full height.

"Thank you, thank you so much! I was afraid I would spend the rest of the night in the forest!!" She explained while sobbing, she was indeed traumatized by the thunderstorm and the fact that she was all by herself in this dark forest until now.

"It's over now, I'm here... I'll bring you back to my place and I'll give you something to drink and to eat and I got a fireplace, you'll be able to warm up right in front of it!" He cracked a smile at the young woman and she wrapped her arms around his neck, claiming that he was her savior, which sent him chuckling.

"I am? I just did what I had to do. I heard someone screaming for help, that's all... It's over now, I'll take good care of you..."  She eventually calmed herself after a moment and the man carried her in his strong arms. Her gentle powdery perfume made him smirked, as he thought the scent fitted well with her naivety... He smiled down at her while she had her arms wrapped around him. He could tell she was cold, she was still shaking in his arms even though he had given her his rain jacket. Of course the rain jacket wasn't warm enough for her and he knew it, but it was just a matter of time before they'd be back to his place.

''Are you ok?" He demanded her and the young woman nodded at him.

"Alright, we're almost there..." It took around 20 minutes for him to reach his place, a small but spacious log cabin he had recently bought. He entered the cabin with Michelle and put down the young woman on his couch before giving her a big glass of water, she gulped it so rapidly that she almost choked o with the clear liquid.

"It's good?" He asked her before she was done drinking her glass of water. She nodded rapidly and asked for another glass of water. He brought her back another one and she drank half of it before putting it on the small table next to the couch. She was still shaking from being cold and he decided to bring her to the bathroom where she'd be able to take off her drenched romper.

"Just take off your clothes, I'll bring you something comfy to wear... My daughter has left some of her clothes in here and you're around her height, well she might be a bit taller, but I'm sure these clothes will fit just fine for you, alright?" She nodded at him and he shut the bathroom door before Michelle sat on the side of the bathtub. She took off the romper and her underwear since her clothes were all wet and cold and she tossed them down on the bathroom floor before grabbing the towel hanging on the wall near the bathtub.

She wrapped herself in the towel and wait for the man to come back with some new and warm clothes for her. He knocked on the door and asked her if he could come in.

"Sure..." He entered in with a folded Pajamas set in his hands. The pieces of clothes were blue and white and they looked so comfy thought Michelle as she just couldn't wait to dress into these while she'd sat nearby the fireplace. He brought her the pajamas and placed it next to her so she'd be able to dress by herself.

"I'll wait outside the bathroom, just let me know when you'll be ready. I lit a fire in the fireplace, you'll be able to warm yourself in no time!" He smiled at her and Michelle nodded at him. She couldn't help thanking God for sending this man in her direction. Even though she wasn't really a believer when it came to God, she couldn't help thinking that perhaps a greater power had sent this man to help her.

She dried herself with the towel and dressed into the fluffy pajamas he had brought her... She then grabbed the top of her pajamas and smelled its collar, a bit surprised about the scent coming from the fabric, it exactly smelled like her perfume. It could be a coincidence, but she still thought it was weird.

"I'm ready!" She exclaimed. He entered the bathroom and lifted her back in his arms to bring her to the living room, near the fireplace. He had approached the couch toward the fireplace so she'd be able to sat on the couch while getting warmer.

He gently installed her on the couch and he even gave her a blanket to cover herself.

"There you go!" He smiled at her and Michelle thanked him.

"Thank you for everything sir, I don't know what I would've done without your help! Really, thank you!" He nodded at her and came back a minute later with a bag of ice wrapped in a piece of cloth.

"You might want to apply this on your ankle. It's very swollen and you'll need some ice." She watched him as he bent down near her sprained ankle since he was quite tall. Her blue eyes locked on his large hands as he gently grabbed her foot and lifted it to wrap the bag of ice around her ankle. She winced in pain and he looked up at her.

"Poor Baby! I Know it hurts..." For some reasons, she almost blushed when he called her baby. She thought he was a handsome man, and he was obviously old enough to be her father which was quite a turn on for the young woman... He indeed had this papa appearance with his short grey hair and his little fat belly. Not to forget his deep but soothing voice that felt so reassuring when she first heard him back in the forest. It was obvious that she'd never forgot his voice at this point...

She kept scrutinizing him as he put a log in the fireplace and he then departed toward the bathroom, only to come back a few minutes later with a bottle of Advil pills.

"You wanna take two of these? It will help with your swollen ankle and you'll feel better." She, of course, accepted to take the pills with the glass of water she had left on the table a few minutes ago. He then came back with a pillow and put it on the couch.

"There, if you wanna sleep on the couch near the fireplace unless you'd like to sleep in the guest bedroom?" She shook her head, not wanting to sleep in the guest bedroom. She was starting to get warmer and it was simply wonderful to enjoy the fireplace because of the heat and also the scent from the fireplace was somehow comforting her, reminding her of these childhood memories when she was spending her winter weekends at this cabin with her stepfather...

"No, I'd rather sleep on the couch. I'll be just fine... Do you think I could eat a lil something, I haven't eaten since lunchtime and I'm starving."

"Sure, I'll make you a sandwich if you want, is that fine with you?" She nodded her head. He headed in his kitchen and made her a sandwich, only to come back in the living room to a sleeping Michelle. Her small eyes were shut and she was breathing slowly as he bent to her level and put the food plate on the coffee table

He snorted at her before caressing the side of her face with the back of his hand. He tilted his head on the side and smirked. He took off the bag of ice wrapped in a piece of cloth from her ankle and pulled up the blanket on her resting body.

He slowly brought his lips to her ear and whispered at her.

"Just like taking candy from a baby..." He then sniffed the gentle odor coming from the pajamas fabric before kissing her warm forehead and went back to his full height, glancing down at the sleeping woman. He returned to the kitchen and got rid of the ice bag before going to the bathroom to take his shower and he went straight to bed, knowing well that Michelle wouldn't wake up until next morning...
