When the moon, turns to an ocean blue hue,

That’s when this spring flower, starts to bloom.

I have so many questions, that loom over my head,

Like how can a flower bloom, without direct sunlight?

The last one to rise from the ground, too shy to come out,

Overwhelmed by the earth itself, a sensory overload.

Don’t want to open up my buds, and show the world

My colorful petals, but if I stay in this cocoon, I’ll explode.

What if they don’t like, how I look when I’m in full bloom?

All around me, flowers get picked, yet I remain, roots in the dirt.

Fall apart in direct sunlight, crawl back into mothers womb,

And hide away, forever shielded from the shame and judgement.

Become selectively mute when certain topics appear in conversation,

It’s best to say nothing at all, rather than risk a deadly Freudian Slip.

Everybody else has beautiful petals, every hue of the rainbow present,

And mine are dull black, white and gray; the ones that nobody wants.

I’ve got so many questions, and none of them have any answers,

Like what are the true colors of my petals? Who do I really love?

Which color combination of petals, will create a rainbow with mine?

I really do love you, but you don’t want me, cause I shun all your advances.

Nobody picks the dull colored flower, that only blooms half past midnight,

The late bloomer, last one to rise, too afraid to show the world my true petals.

21st Century Breakdown, all these questions threaten

The foundation of my existence, it might be the death of my ego.

Apocalypse Now present inside my brain and inside my soul,

The denial tinted glasses, are starting to crack and fall apart,

Questioning everything that I see, and everything that I know.

Is it all a lie? Is everything just apart of some kind of fever dream?

At the sunrise, I regress from full bloom, retreat back into my buds,

Hide my colors from the world, hope nobody saw me half past midnight.

Focusing my energy inwards, so I have the strength to rise at night,

Maybe one day, I’ll be fine with blooming in the glow of direct sunlight.

When the moon, turns to an ocean blue hue,

That’s when this spring flower, starts to bloom.

I have so many questions, that loom over my head,

Like how can a flower bloom, without direct sunlight?
