What is beauty? What does being beautiful mean? Is it the long hair which is always shiny and bouncy? Is it starving yourself in order to have those perfect thighs and abs? Is it having to carry your little makeup kit wherever you go and check yourself in the mirror every ten minutes?

As Emma Watson once said, It is very sad when a girl has to act not-so-smart in order to fit in. A girl is not just the clothes she wears or the make-up she puts-on or the accessories she flaunts. There is more to her. There lies an entire personality beneath those accessories; which is way more pleasant, fancy and classy. The make-up and clothes should only complement her already radiant personality; not create a choking mould. So what, if she has some marks here and there on her face? Those marks do not fade the twinkle in her eyes when she laughs with her whole heart.

I began by asking what beauty is. I think the answer is pretty simple. Everyone is born beautiful. So, beauty is what you look like right now. Beauty is the smile on the little girl's face when her elder brother is feeding her a bowl of her favourite cereal. Beauty is face of the girl lost in thought about a problem in quantum physics. Beauty is the mixture of excitement and nervousness on the girl's face whose about to give a science presentaton in front of the whole class. Beauty is the pen marks on the girl's hands after studing for 4 hours straight. Beauty is the wrinkles on the face of a woman who has aged gracefully. She is a strong woman. She has taught her children to be strong too. In short, beauty is healthy body, healthy mind and healthy soul. It is the humility you show when you speak to the elderly. It is the squeaky tone you make when you speak to the kids. It is the kindness and strength you show to your loved ones. It is the smile of content on your face when you feed the hungry or give a sweater to someone shivering in cold. But most of all, beauty is, not feeling less of yourself based on how you look. It is treating yourself with respect. YOU ae beautiful.
