A war wages but you cannot see
Bombs fall and bullets fly
And bit by bit more of me dies
I fight and fight and rarely rest
And I wonder if I ever can
Will they stop the sirens that roar
Taking the calmness I so long for
The sky are black dark with ash
Blood and smoke and coal and glass
The stench of death and blood and fear
The cries of anguish and agony and years of pain no one will know
It's a pain I endure alone
That daunting voice
Telling me give up
To Fall down and don't fight
That the dawn won't come neither will night
On and on the sunlight burns
Coaxing sweat and tears from this world and my pores
A place hidden to those outside
But I see with my eyes
This place that is in ruins that burn
That I have lived and continue to fight for
This place where the war carries on you cannot see
This place lost and out of view
The place I'm trapped and have fallen down into
I can't escape though I wish I could
But I'm strong and stubborn and brave and used and battleborn too
I refuse to surrender to the darkness inside
I'm battered and beaten and broken and bruised the war I speak of it's taken its toll on me
Because I fight it it consumes my soul
I close my eyes and the battle goes on
This war I fight all on my own
You can't see it and there you won't go
It's out of place and out of view because there's no place for someone like you
It's my prison, it's my home, it's a place I alone can go
This war that wages that you cannot see isn't invisible
it carries on in m
