GONE!  It was all gone!  His business, his home, his wife, his children.
Several thousand miles of tracks lay before him. A life game of spin the bottle sat in front of him, only this one would land him somewhere else.  Perhaps over the rainbow of reality...
There wasn't a farewell party or "hope your future is brilliant."  No, it all ended in a crash.  The business, his marriage, his life.  Everything left over fit into one suitcase, a backpack, and a cheap, second class train ticket.  Not bad for 43 years, 6 months and a half dozen days.
20 years ago, Zeke had stepped into a foreign world, laughing, beating the odds, succeeding.  Married the boss' daughter, became CEO within the first 5 years, had the 2.5 children.
Don't look back, his heart cried, she won't be there.  Climb aboard when the door opens.
Zeke clenched the handle of the suitcase, anxiously waiting to take the step that would send him spinning down tracks into the unknown.
Today was a game of high stakes poker...the outcome would be his future.  As invisible as the whistle of the train, haunting, inviting, uncertain. His!
