We can spend years and years trying to decide what the Bible actually said. Going from the Hebrew bible, the teaching is plain to me. For a start, what we call Judaism came about around the 1800's; and in fact there is no word to be found in the Hebrew language to talk about religion. To me, the Israelites were living a way of life with God as their boss, and Moses as the servant and leader.
There are three main things Moses told the Israelites which he got from God.
1: To fear God all their days
2: To love God with all the heart, soul and might.
3: To keep God's commandment and His decrees.

Many of us do not know that God picked Israel to be his own; and that there are many things written that has nothing to do with the other nations. Of course, God is one God over all, there is no other. We can read about the creation which took place in six days; and on the seventh day, God made it a Sabbath so that men could rest. This is for Israel and those who are attached to it. Inside the bible we find that God doesn't talk double; He talks plainly, so that no one has to say, ''What does He mean?'' If you have a bible beside you, just read Numbers chapter 12, and you'll see what I mean.

It is also good to read Genesis !:14 and Genesis 1:31.
Genesis 1:14 tell of the sun, moon and the stars. It states clearly that they were for signs for seasons, days and years. Funny enough, the prophet Esdras wrote that they were there to serve us. Then we have Genesis 1:31 where God saw all that He created and it was good. Is that clear enough?--it was good. How then did evil came about? What is it? It has to be the opposite of good. Yet, everything was good. In our world there is positive and negative, so the negative must be what we see as evil. God doesn't see anything bad.

Now we come to the part where God told Moses that He God is to be called the 'Lord.'' That is my name for all generations to come.

Don't we take what God said to be the truth? Yes, we do, because God don't lie. Most of the teaching in the Old Testament are for the Israelites whom God took out of Egypt through Moses Aaron and Miriam. Follow the ways of the Lord. Fear the Lord all the days of your life, and keep His commandments and decrees. This is for all those who are joined with Israel, and it is not expected of other nations to do so.

God said: I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but by My name, The Lord, I didn't fully make Myself known.
