(prologue)

"Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee."  John Dunne

I said to a friend, quoting John Dunne.

"...It Tolls for Thee!!!!"  I said with great emphasis and a rightgeous irony.

"It tolls for thee!!!" he bellowed back.

"No..." I disagreed. It tolls for THEEEE!!!"

"It tolls for thee" he argued.

"No....for THEE!" I grew red in the face.

"Tolls for thee; not me." he said simply.

"For Thee, For Thee, for Thee! You horses Ass!" I told him.

From the shadows a quiet voice hissed: "It tolls for ME!"

it spoke with a defference that was unerving..
(and this, if you want to know, is how it began)
