While Everything Was Not a Sci-Fi

How long you've gone, I've lost count,
but I know I've been missing you day in and day out.
Without your presence, pleasure is no more in my life.
On your side of the bed I smelt and felt, no you.
From midnights I woke and wept, wanted you.

I think it is too late to realize that
I should have treasured you,
while everything was not a Sci-Fi.

Now I am crying for the stupidity
of my sitting here and dreaming
of the love we could have made and shared,
of the trust we could have created and joined;
and of my trying to write a story of man and wife
that we once ever had,
while everything was not a Sci-Fi.
