A little knowledge seeped in the cracks of my brain

On my journey to staying sane and middle-age.

I look back at the younger me from here, and cringe.

Thought I knew everything, but I didn’t know jack,

So absolute in my thinking, my opinions black or white.

Not my fault, I guess, how could I have known?

Colorblind, I finally learned life is multi-hued

Not flat, it’s layered, not absolute, it’s flexible,

These are the things I’ve learned—this is me now.
