He walks to the train without looking back. I stand watching him, and I wonder if I will ever see him again. He has a big suitcase this time. He looks prepared to be gone.

Should I have gone with him? Should I follow him now?

These questions plague me, but I don’t know the right answers.

I love him.

I’ve been following him for months and every day he takes this train at this time. Then he returns every night at 7pm. Every day. For months. I follow him home, I watch through his brightly lit windows as he makes dinner, texts, watches TV. He looks happy, but I know I could make him happier. If he would only just realize that.

The restraining order says no closer than 500 feet. But if he doesn’t see me, does that even matter? I’m not hurting him. I’m just watching.

Watching, and waiting for my chance. My chance to show him that my love is pure. My love is forever. No piece of paper, jail time, or other legal documents will change that.

If it means I have to follow him forever, I will.

I love him.
