Mommy Charles always said, "If you find any money laying around de house, is mine, you don have a job so even if it is a penny is mine so bring it to me." Well one Saturday she was cooking up some rice and peas with stew chicken when she realized she forgot to get some curry. "Andy!!" she shouted, I jumped when I heard her because I was in the yard cutting an earth worm in half to see if it would grow back. I know, I know, evil, but my older brother told me it would make two worms. I was six years old and believed everything my older brother told me. I went into the kitchen, "Go to de store, get a pack ah curry for me," she said. 'Go to me room, de money in me bag," I walked through the dining room and stepped up into the into drawing room. That room was bright, windows all around, the tropical late morning sun blazing though the windows. I loved that room, I used to sit at the window and look at the habour all the time. Mommy Charles’ room was to the left. I started walking when a bright silver flash on the floor caught my eyes. I stopped, took a step back, then stepped forward, there is was again, I stepped back looked over to the middle of the room and there it was, a brand spanking new ten cent piece. I was so excited I almost fell over. I looked back in the direction of Mommy Charles then tip toed over to the treasure, the damn wooden floor creaking. I looked at that ten-cent piece, looked over my shoulder then bent over and picked it up. I stood there for a second, trying to figure out what to do, I looked at the silver coin, the Queen of England's face looked back at me, I swear, that old lady was saying something to me, damn evil woman. Images of all the Sweetie I could buy flashed in my imagination. "Andy, wah taking you so long boy?" Mommy Charles shouted "Nutton Mammie!" I was confused, I just stood there looking at me find. "What you doing standing dey?" Mommy Charles said. This time she was right behind me. I spun around, shoving my hand with the dime down my pants. So here I was, standing in front of my mother with my sweaty hand clenching that silver coin next to my testicles. Mommy Charles slowly looked from my face to my pants. "Boy, what you doing?" She asked and before I could thing the most disgusting word came out my mouth. "Ah scratching me balls," Mommy Charles did not float like a butterfly, but she sure stung like a bee. My shoulder was stinging like crazy and I saw her hand go up again but stopped as the dime slid down my leg and stopped just about my knee. Mommy Charles looked at it, looked at me, Ohhh I see you not only have a nasty mouth, but you is a tief too?" she steamed. I turned and ran but she was right behind me. I tell you what I never took money again. Sometimes I just left it laying where I saw it.
