I think it was just before Winter

When the change took her away.

Yes --- I think it was then, not sure when,

That Fall left the forest, to stay.

 

She stepped from the trees for a moment

And onto the path to tomorrow.

Such a simple act displaced the fact

That a river was cried, called Sorrow.

 

Oh woes are we in the season-less year

There's just Winter and Summer, they say.

I think I shall grieve on the very eve

When Fall left the forest, to stay.
