Magical Fairytale Places

Let me take out my pen and take out my ink,

and start to compose some place you will think

a place of magic, of an enchanted stone tower;

a place full of creatures with magical power.

Let there be heroes, princesses and fae,

let there be evil to threaten the day;

let the animals speak and then be understood,

let there be a cottage buried deep in a wood.

The gowns might be long, the heroes wear tights,

and the weapon of choice be those swords in those fights;

we’ll create an old witch, and some flying critters

that unroost the birds that will flee with some twitters.

The goblins and trolls will roam among trees,

the dragon breathes fire with every sneeze;

the roses are red and their stems have sharp thorns

while unicorns roam with their single gold horns.

So it might sound cliched, the same story again

but we could mix the elements within the frame;

the princess a hero, that rescues the prince,

and the fae are so evil in their presence you’ll flinch.

There might be a toad that will transform to a girl

when a wizard’s wand sends it a spell with a twirl.

Perhaps we’ll have aliens, monsters that swim,

mermaids that rescue, and kings that are slim.

In a fairytale world anything can happen,

we don’t need to follow that same well-worn pattern

but go with the flow and let our minds free

to create some magic for you and for me!
