"He said whoever comes to Him He will keep, and won't turn away anyone, nor lose who His Father gives Him. It was rather peculiar mom. He kept saying in Him is everlasting life, and whoever is His He will resurrect on the last day. All I can say is it caused quite a stir."

"Who else was there?"

Estelle recounted a few of the townspeople, and a handful of the men that followed Jesus, whom He called His disciples.

"Thomas, hmmm?"

Estelle flushed at the very name, "Yes...."

Mavy shook her head knowingly, smiling. "Did you hear anything else or were you focused in on Thomas by that time?"

"Oh mom!," she protested, waving her hand, yet the telltale flushed rose on her cheeks, "Jesus asked if any of those who followed Him were offended. He said, " It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not." My heart, mom, it did something strange, I wanted to believe like never before! He said again, only those who His father draws can come to Him. I didn't quite understand, but before I knew it, there were many of those that followed Him leaving. I hope I didn't miss anything." Estelle pushed her cup away from her, "By that time the synagogue was much less crowded so I peered inside..."

"And Thomas was looking so handsome, and he took note of you and-," Mavy teased.

"Mom! Besides... Thomas may not be the one anyway. Samuel was there too!"

"Go on... I won't interrupt again, I promise. But we're circling back to Samuel!"

Estelle flipped her hair, leaning forward, her eyes sparkling, "Jesus asked the men He calls disciples if they were going to leave Him too."

"Oh?" She quickly made a zipping motion over her lips and shrugged sheepishly, "Sorry."

Estelle hadn't even noticed, "Peter said, Lord, who can we go to? Only You speak the words of eternal life! And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God."

Mavy swallowed, letting her finger trace along with the pattern of the wood knots in the small table. "I don't know Estelle, but I feel like Robert. I want to follow Him too."
