A "love" story.

There you were,

in my dream,

and there I was,

sitting down at a desk

next to a friend,

and you walked in

to show off that you were married,

but I'd seen your facebook,

I already knew,

and I said what I know to be true,

"good luck to you"

"I have yet to meet the one"

and you left,

I didn't mean to wipe that smile

off your handsome face,

but when I asked you long ago,

if you wanted a girlfriend,

and you said no because girls make you go broke,

I took that as a no,

but then you sort of tried,

without ever coming clean about it,

pursuing me by showing up,

and it was awkward at my job,

so I just sort of moved on,

and so did you,

I do wonder what would have happened,

if you had just said yes,

who knows the rest,

but I was just too delicate

I was already damaged goods,

and use to saving face,

and put myself out there,

I saw my shadow,

went back into the woods,

now you're married to someone else,

and I have not changed,

for me finding the treasure,

is not my mission,

but following the map,

and enjoying the journey,

is where I find my fun,

so perhaps that dream was goodbye,

the last time I'll ever see or think of you,

because now there's nothing left,

I've had many maps since then,

found many treasures,

and start all over again.
