“Luna Kat, your test result is in. You are not pregnant.” Dr. Hale said. I sighed in relief. I couldn’t be pregnant right now. Not with everything going on. I wanted to have children with Alex, but I wanted to wait. At least till I was 18. It wasn’t uncommon for wolves to get pregnant at a young age, but I didn’t want to put my kids in this world with Blake still around.

“Thank you, Dr. Hale,” I said with a small smile. He nodded to me and began packing his things up.

“I will have your other test results as soon as I can. I will call you with the results.” He said walking out of the room. I followed behind him and went to find Alex. He was in the kitchen cooking something to eat. I looked on the stove as I pulled myself onto the counter.

“Mac and Cheese?” I asked looking at the cooking pasta. Alex didn’t seem to hear me, or he was ignoring me. “Dr. Hale ran some tests. He will call with the results.” I said looking at him. He continued to ignore me. “I’m not pregnant. That’s really all I know.” I sighed. Alex looked at me and then went back to cooking. “Are you seriously ignoring me, Alex?” I growled the question. He set the spoon down and turned to fully face me.

“Kat, I’m not comfortable with you working with the other pack. Not with everything that’s going on. How can we even know we can trust them?” He had been thinking about this a lot, or so I guessed based on his words.

“Alex, I trust my pack. I grew up with all of them. The ones who have chosen to join us, are ones I trust with my life. Hell, I would even trust them with my children’s lives.” I was suddenly angry at the thought of Alex questioning my pack’s loyalty.

“They aren’t your pack. They never were.” He seemed to be getting angry as well.

“They are my pack. My family is the rightful alphas. I gave it up after my father died because I couldn’t handle being the leader at 13. Blake was a strong male, and I trusted him.” I growled.

“Yeah look where that got us!” Alex yelled shoving the pot of noodles onto the floor. I flinched back and Alex’s eyes flashed regret. I hopped off the counter and stepped over the mess on the floor and made my way up the stairs and to one of the spare bedrooms. I slammed the door and locked it. I heard Alex growl from down the stairs. I ignored him and curled up on the bed. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and clicked on my email. I quickly typed out an email to the pack.

Dear Howlers,

Due to some complications with Alex and I, I am going to have to sneak around to train with you all. I will try my best to try and meet with you guys once a week. Though it may be harder with Alex wanting me to stay away from you. He doesn’t trust you like I do. That’s mainly because he doesn’t know you as well as I do. I am hoping to be able to meet with you this coming Wednesday. Same place. Same time.

Your Luna,

I put my phone down and rolled to face the wall. I closed my eyes and let sleep wash over me. Anything to help me forget about the fight with Alex.

My paws thundered on the frozen ground as I raced towards the training grounds. The howls of rage and pain rang in my ears. They were the howls I grew up with. Jay. Alice. Ace. Brooke. Dakota. Bay. Tyler. Ashley. Had Blake found out about the plan? Was he attacking my friend? I pushed myself harder, I needed to get to them. I had to help them. My heart pounded as I raced up the hill. I shouldn’t have sent that email. I should have just called Jay and told him over the phone. I should have waited! This is all my fault. They were being attacked and were probably killed. If it was Blake attacking, he would have Karen, Mark, James, and Hannah with him…and probably even elders from the pack. As I neared the top of the hill, I saw blood. It wasn’t a lot, but it was just the start of the pools. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the first body. It was Dakota. His body was limp and covered in blood and gashes. I looked around and saw more bodies scattering the ground. Alice. Ace. Brooke. Bay. Tyler. Ashley. My eyes searched for Jay. He was fighting a wolf in the shadows of the trees. I tried to move to help Jay, but I was frozen in place. I watched in horror as my best friend fought against the much larger wolf. I couldn’t see who it was. I yelped out as Jay was pinned to the ground, both wolves, turned to face me. A howl left the larger wolf’s jaws and then he lowered his head and took Jay’s throat in his mouth and bit down. The sound of bones crushing reached my ears. I heard a victory howl come from the wolf in the shadows. He stepped out of the shadows and I gasped. It wasn’t Blake. My heart pounded as the wolf approached me. His fur stained with blood. My best friend’s blood dripped from his jaws as he loomed over me. “HOW COULD YOU?!” I sobbed. “They were not trustworthy. They were getting in the way.” He smirked. I growled and readied myself to launch at him. He was going to pay for killing my pack. “You killed my pack. You will pay.” I growled and glared up at him. “They weren’t your pack, darling. They were Blake’s. Blake knew about the betrayal and wanted them taken out. I helped him. He and I are friends.” His voice was sickening. “YOU WORK WITH HIM!?” I was shocked. “Look, darling, it’s for the best. Things are better this way. Now prove your loyalty to me and the pack by ending their lives.” He motioned to the two wolves that were brought out by Blake and Karen. I gasped and then growled. “I won't KILL BELA AND KYLE!” The wolf growled and pinned me down. “You will do it! You WILL PROVE YOUR LOYALTY TO YOUR ALPHA!” he snapped his jaws at my throat. I yelped and looked at him. “Alex, please don’t make me do this.” I cried. I shifted and let his weight push me into the ground. “If you won’t do it you will be punished. Blake, Karen, kill them.” He ordered. I cried and hide my face in my hands as I heard the growls and then the whimpers of my best friend and her mate. Everything went silent after a moment and I opened my eyes. Blake and Karen were next to him. “I have no use for a weak mate. Blake do as you wish with her.” Alex’s cold voice rang in my ears. Blake laughed darkly as he moved to stand over my naked body. “I could use a new toy. What do you think love?” He looked at Karen who just nodded. Blake lowered his head and bit into my shoulder where my mark was. Pain shot through my body.

I shot up in bed and cried out. My face wet with tears. I wiped my face and brought my knees to my chest. What the hell was that? Why did I have that dream? My mind was running a mile a minute when I heard a knock at my door.

“Kat?” it was Bela’s voice. I rushed to the door and opened it and buried my face in my best friend's chest and sobbed.
