Protest

Protest! They say they care.

Protest! They wouldn’t dare.

Protest! They cut your hair.

Protest! They strip you bare.

Protest! They foul your air.

Protest! Your bruises hurt.

Protest! Your face is dirt.

Protest! Your eyes are tired.

Protest! Your jaw is wired.

Protest! Your eyes are black.

Protest! No going back!

Protest! Your lips are sore.

Protest! You lost your war.

Protest! Your voice is weak.

Protest! You cannot speak.

Fear not! Do not despair.

Protest! We’ll get you there!

Derina Peng

This is a nice protest poem. I like the last two lines, they shine some hope well.

Ah, thank you very much Derina,
I saw a picture of a dirty-faced, straggle-haired, exhausted woman who looked as if she'd been reprimanded for protest? Just had to write! Just had to stand up for the right to speak out! Hope!

However necessary that gas mask, it must be an intolerable burden in this searing heat! Thank God for the mightier pen.

Spot on, HJ. I've done my fair share. Love the defiant attitude.

Thank you Hully!
See you and Adam on the Streets later, in the half-light?
Sometimes? Doesn't modern life make us all want to....
PROTEST!

Never was a truer word spoken!
Should I watch my back, maybe?
Board up my windows? Hope so!
We should meet, on the streets in
THE HALF-LIGHT! PROTEST!!!!
