On Time to Time Out by Allen Henriquez

I didn’t plan, or even consider, that I’d have time to take off. However, I’ m off. Off the grid. Headed for The Apple. I’m drained but not depleted. I need this.

Arrived in New York City, now. A-train downtown back to Brooklyn bound. Natalie and I met and hugged forever at the High Street station where the Brooklyn Bridge sits in its dominating expanse.

Beach 9th Pier the night into day finds us boarding a boat motored by Lenny with Lisa Marie present. A beautiful red head Lisa Marie, she, in her smiling mischievous grin. I in retrieving a so-called relevant item was thrown overboard.

I knew it was planned because Lenny laughing with his sun burned face seemingly a brighter red than previously, immediately cut the motor and threw me a life preserver. The laughter was explosive. I had it in my mind to crack Lenny good, but I didn’t, I would not, because this is the vacation I walked into willingly, and I need it. I was wet but I was no longer drained in the mind, body and spirit. It was fun, strange, but fun.
