Goodbye
by C. A. Stokes III

He had to leave.
He didn’t want to, but he had to disappear.

As an investigative reporter, he was just the kinda guys that just could not let go of anything he got his hands on.
His life already cost him his marriage, and now it cost him his job.
“Are you outta your God Damned mind!” His editor screamed red faced bloody murder at him. “I print this and we could all end up dead you idiot!”
“But, it’s the truth.” He remembered being shocked at his reaction. “I got proof!”
“Yeah, yes you do. Plus, a very long list of names. Names of some very powerful people both alive and dead.” He sighed and sat back down in his big fat editor’s chair. It made that farty leather noice when he did.
“You wanna do this, you’re on your own.” His editor picked up his story and tossed it at him.
“John, Martin, Bobby, 9/11, and the damn election?” He shook his head. “Take it and leave. You’re on your own.”

He was.

He stopped at an internet cafe, and now the world knows. Everything.

The truth.

Signed, Dead Man.

Goodbye.
