Getting OLD

I’m usually not one

To whine and complain

But today

I’ve gotta say

I’m feeling the pain

I’ve spent the work week

Toiling in the hot summer sun

Although the day’s labor is rewarding

The nights are no fun

I’m old

I’m tired

I’m out of shape

My bones ache

And doing chores

With the youth corps

Is no piece of cake

Still the job is what it is

If they can do it

So can I

Even if

End of shift

I’d like to

Blow a gasket and die

Every muscle screams

WTF DID YOU DO?!

I’ve got agonies on top of miseries

(I swear to you it’s true)

I spent Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Literally busting ass

Now it’s 6A.M. on Thursday

And I’m running out of gas

I guess I’m finally seeing

What getting old is all about

By Friday I’ll be dead

Leave the flowers

And get out
