Yet another pointless murder, but is it symptomatic of a very worrying trend.

Shot Over A Sandwich.

I know I said that I was not going to write any more about things like this, but again there has been an incident that really defies belief.

Yesterday evening in a suburb of Paris a 28 year-old waiter was shot dead reportedly over a sandwich. The customer became angry at the time it took to be prepared and shot the waiter before fleeing the scene. The waiter died at the scene.

The thing that struck me about this incident, other than the obvious incredulity that such a thing could happen, was that it was not really over a sandwich at all. It was anger caused by , the customer simply was not prepared to wait!

This is sort of symptomatic of the society many of us are existing in today. Everything is expected to be instant, from information to entertainment. We can all get our music, our reading matter, our games or viewing simply at the touch of a button.

Many stores now offer instant payment facilities, where customers do their paying while they shop. No more queuing at checkouts for a lot of people. What happens when something goes wrong and these people that are used to ‘instant gratification’ are forced to wait? Are we going to be confronted with angry outbursts due to a complete lack of patience development?

It’s worth taking a pause and thinking about the bigger picture, as well as respectfully mourning the death of a man just working his shift as a waiter.
