Stormscape

Here it comes again and I’m down on the floor;

quite simply, I just cannot take it much more.

A storm that is raging, from which there’s no cover,

I’m desperate now, seeking a way to smother

all of the pain and all of the feelings

that soon become fractured, soon they are reeling.

I’ll cover my ears and I’ll shut up my eyes -

enough of raised voices and all of the lies.

Curled up on the ground, chin to knee, in a ball

I wish I could make myself smaller than small.

I will not be drawn, I refuse to succumb;

I will make myself become deaf, blind and dumb,

as the rage of the storm batters and clashes

and all of my senses still reel from those bashes.

It will of course end, peace will once again reign

but each time I’m left feeling far from the same.

I guess it’s my fault, for with all of my tries,

too much leaks in and a part of me dies.
