The Lighthouse Hotel Chapter 7 - Mystery benefactor reveals his intentions for the hotel
Tom began to undress Lady Jane with his eyes feasting on her like she was some sort of exotic treat to be inspected with absolute relish.

Both of them laid on the luxurious 4 poster bed and considered sharing an afternoon of passion with each other.

They were about to embrace each other with a kiss when an unexpected visitor entered the room which startled both of them.

Tom quickly tucked his shirt in to his trousers whilst Lady Jane buttoned up her dress and applied a bit of lipstick to her pouted lips. Both of them appeared embarrassed at this sudden intrusion.

Leo- Dad what are you doing and aren't you going to introduce me to this lady?.

Tom- Please Leo it's not what you think, permit me to introduce you to Lady Jane Harwood. We were just  discussing the staff rota and the various theme nights which I have planned for the hotel in the forthcoming weeks, now what's the time?.

Leo- Well I hate to be the one to break up your bit of fun but we are expecting our first guests to arrive in less than a couple of hours time.

Also "The Southern Echo's" journalists have arrived and are downstairs, they want to do a piece on our hotel isn't that a hoot?.

Lady Jane Harwood- Right Tom I need to be making a move as I have a few of my own personal commitments to take care of.I'll be in touch and here's my email address should you need to contact me tonight about anything.

Tom- But Jane I need you right now come back !!!!!!

Leo- Dad are you coming or what?.

Tom- Yes son and do stop ordering me about, talk about the tail wagging the dog, right the press are already here you say?.

Leo- Do we both need to speak to them?,I mean we've got a lot on and there are so many outstanding tasks to take care of.

Tom- Ok son I'll deal with the press you crack on with the staff rota and let everyone know what they're duties and responsibilities are for tonight,I need a drink fix me a scotch on the rocks will you?.

Leo- I'm not your bloody servant dad,get it yourself.

It was quite obvious that Leo's body language and negative attitude towards his father was in some part due to his earlier shock of seeing his father with Lady Jane Harwood,Some bridges would have to be rebuilt between him and his father.

It was unfortunate that he should have witnessed his father in this compromising way especially on this the most important day for both of them.

Leo decided that he would just keep up appearances and make his best effort at trying to get through the day.

Meanwhile Tom was addressing the press hounds and doing a fine job of promoting his hotel as not only as  a quality business venture. He wanted to market it in such a way that would befit it's uniqueness with regard to the annexed historical Beachy Head lighthouse which was a great selling point.

The guests had now started to arrive in their droves and all were greeted by a cheerful Leo who was working flat out on the reception desk.He looked very smart in his white tuxedo jacket and long black trousers.

In total the hotel had a capacity of 100 bedrooms and all of them were fully booked up for the next few weeks which was excellent news so long as the service met the required standard of this 5 star hotel.

A variety of themed nights had been arranged in the forthcoming weeks which included a murder weekend, swingers club, psychic evenings, the magic circle club, comedians, comediennes, speed dating, live bands and a pink night which would encourage lesbians, gays, transvestites and crossdressers to come to the hotel's venue.

The opening night party was now in full swing as Tom began to circulate with the guests in "The Gimcrack room" where all of the guests had now assembled.

Tom- Right ladies and gentlemen if I could just have a few minutes of your time,I am very honoured and delighted to welcome you all to our wonderful new hotel here this evening.

We hope that each and everyone of you will enjoy the experience and allow us to take care of all of your needs whilst you are our guests here.

Nothing is too much trouble,we want you to leave our hotel having had a fantastic experience,so all that remains for me to say is to wish one and all a pleasant evening have fun and let the party begin.

Leo- Well done dad that speech must have been rehearsed a few times, right I've sorted out the staff rota up to tomorrow then we will need to hire a duty manager, night porters and conference porters as we are still short of staff in those departments.

Tom- Ok not to worry we don't have any conferences booked until the week after next and I can fill in as the duty manager until such time as can hire the right candidate.

Leo- Oh no just look what the cat's just brought in,shall I call for security dad?

Tom- No it's ok Leo I'll deal with Sir Charles Harvey and Ken Charlery.
Right gentlemen I expect you would like a tour of the hotel and the lighthouse.

Ken Charlery- Well it's good to see you too Tom,Solentville hasn't quite been the same place since you left, you're quite a hard act to follow ha ha.

Tom- Yes right you are please come this way I need to speak to you about something.

Ken- Now that sounds intriguing,I say Sir Charles are you coming?,I think Tom wants to put me under house arrest or have the security remove me,there's no need to get physical Tom I'm coming.

Tom- Right Ken I need to ask you a few questions, firstly are you the mystery benefactor who paid the lady instalment on the hotel?.

That's £50,000,secondly why are you putting the heat on Avril?,what has she done to warrant you having her removed from Solent Leisure?.

Ken Charlery- I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about Tom,I think you must have indulged in too much of that rather potent home made punch that was meant for your guests old fruit.

Sir Charles Harvey- Permit me to interrupt You two gentlemen but it wasn't Ken who who paid the final instalment on your hotel it was me.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble Tom I'm delighted to inform you that I am your new sleeping partner and I won't be silenced by any threats you make against me.

Tom- Oh really this just gets better and better,so how much is it going to cost me to buy you out Sir Charles?.

Sir Charles Harvey- I'm sorry but that's not up for discussion, just regard me as an investor or director in your business we both have a vested interest in it being a success.

You won't have to deal with me on a daily basis and I'll just take my cut of the profits like any investor.

I see you have borrowed quite a bit of money on this place and have mortgaged yourself to the hilt haven't you Tom?.

You might need my help one of these days, anyway I must be off as I have meetings to attend and we still haven't appointed a new chief executive at Solent Leisure have we Ken?.ha ha.

The party suddenly went flat on Tom as he realised that his new venture would be soured by this unwanted financial involvement by Solentville's local entrepreneur.

Sir Charles would prove an unwanted irritating distracting intrusion,he now became anxious to speak with his solicitor and his bank manager to hear what his legal standing was in relation to this new development.

Darkness had now descended on this sleepy part of Dorset as most of the guests slowly made their way to the bar for a final nightcap.

Both Tom and Leo were absolutely exhausted and were in need of some shut eye themselves but  there were still many outstanding tasks that needed addressing before they could go to bed.

The security checks and automated alarm systems need to programmed, there were 3 cctv cameras which needed to be inspected to enable them to record any unwanted intrusions which might occur during the night.

It was now midnight and Tom had just made his way to his bedroom with a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich which he made in the hotel's kitchen.

He also poured himself a nice drop of Jameson's Irish whisky which was blended with a small amount of Highland spring water

Leo had also made his way to his room and quite literally through himself on top of the bed without getting undressed,he was dog tired and out for the count as he began to snore.

A murder weekend had been arranged for tomorrow which would be the hotel's first theme night, there was much anticipation about how this would unfold.

Questions still remained whether the hotel would benefit from the extra income from the guests who would attend the evening events.

Tom was just about to lay his weary head upon the soft duck feathered pillow when the telephone rang by his bedside table. He quickly turned on the lamp and answered the call somewhat surprised.

Tom- Hello Mr Tom Devereaux here how can I help you?.

Lady Jane Harwood- It's me Tom,there's no need to be so formal,I'm really sorry about this afternoon and the embarrassment it must have caused you,how can I make it up to you?.

Tom- It's a bit late Jane,is your hubby at home or is he still out on business somewhere?.

Lady Jane Harwood- It's ok he won't be back until next week, anyway I'll pop round to the hotel tomorrow morning and we can go through the schedule for the coming week.

Tom- There's really no need Jane it's already been sorted,Leo is handling the staffing issues but it was really sweet of you to offer but I think we should leave things as they are for now.

I'm not sure if my son's business involvement with you and Mr Lovejoy might in some way compromise our business interests if you get my drift.Anyway I need to get some rest so I will bid you a good night.
