Chapter One

There are monsters in New York.

Ones in which were shifting around in their own body armor. Some were hidden away in the dark; some were itching to become something they weren't; some were like me, thinking about the future; some were agitating for a fight against the creators.

I looked at the grim, metallic, windows.

I pressed the red button.

The double grey doors opened, and I walked outside into the strange new World.

I saw the pictures of robots in the city of New York.

They weren't happy.

I walked over to them, and they were being kept by their human owners. I reached Central Park. It was in the year 2174. Times had changed politically, socially, and economically; times seemed elusive to those robots who shunned the darkness. I loathed the darkness. Every robot went mad; every robot seemed to vow to get rid of the creators.

I saw a sign in neon-bold letters that read: ALL CREATORS SHALL FALL. I didn't know if there was a political coup in the works; I didn't care.

I opened the door, and went through to my new way of life on Earth.

***

The shimmering of the bright lights didn't illumnate the bars.

I looked at the robots on the chairs.

They wore head scanners on their heads.

On their faces were sunglasses that scanned metadata from their corneas.

"What do you need?", a man asked me.

"Sunglasses, please", I answered.

"Two credits".

I nodded.

"I don't have any credits".

"Here's some, girl", a human woman said.

"Thank you. I've been created to ignore the human World", I informed her.

"That's typical of the human creators".

She paid the man, and I walked to the seat next to her.
