Money: Becoming an Ideal Pet

Ce l'ho fatta! Sono sopravvissuto!

As a 23 year old son of a loving mother and a caring father, I have encountered many problems, whether it’s gender identity issue; physical appearance issue; trust issues; financial issues and many more. In facing this battles, I have only two weapons in my pocket, a rosary and my faith to my saviour.

As I have entered the so called “adulting stage” by the millenials, I have encountered several problems but the biggest one is dealing with a financial problem. We keep on thinking, why do we need to work? For whom do we work for? For our self? Our parents? Our brothers and sisters? Our friends? Or simply just to be able to satisfy our luxurious material needs?

Working in some of the companies here in the metro, I realized that you cannot achieve your dreams if you won’t fight for it, and by fighting, it means by stepping on other people’s career and life just to be able to achieve the career growth you are dreaming for. And after having the said achievement, of course, the most awaited part of the situation…. Salary increase!

See? That’s one situation where money just made you as his/her pet. Wanna know how? Simply because you just stepped on someone's life just to make yours better and to be able to tell other people that you made it. Sad isn't it? But that’s the reality. Can we see the extent of the value that we have given to a thing called money? Well, for me, I can really say that 20 out of 100 has the same mentality that I have which is to think of money as a temporal needs; a thing that we cannot value after our death; a thing that will pass and can be earn again then will pass again.

YES! We can say that money is important, we cannot buy food if we don’t have it, we cannot travel without it, we cannot buy the things we need and is trending without it and what’s worse? We cannot control other people’s lives without money.

Do you guys think that money can also destroy a family’s relationship to each other? Sure you did.

I have experienced it many times, take this one, some of your family members seem to forget you whenever you are in great financial debt like all those happy moments were long forgotten and now he/she treats you like you are not part of the family and here goes those backstabbing words which is really hurting. Imagine going home from work, having a good conversation with your mom and dad over the phone, sharing laughter and ideas to improve our lives and all of a sudden when you get home, you can feel that gloomy a bit dark mood in the house because one of your family members intentionally said something which is not true which makes eventually turned your jolly moment down.

At that moment, I really don’t know what’s the reason why he/she said something that is not true. Maybe he/she wants to improve his/her image in our family or maybe he/she just wanted to be the star. So he/she just simply dragged me down to the bottom and left with nothing but myself. Do you want to know what’s more hurting with this situation? My mom and dad we’re depressed, overthinking things that are temporary and can be resolved, my mom even told me to be honest with them despite the financial problems I am facing and now I am having a hard time fixing what’s already destroyed many times.

But then, day by day, I was still able to wake up, which means that God has greater plans and are bigger than what I am facing right now. It is very important to give thanks to our creator and saviour for he has given us another day to live and be able to correct the things that we made wrong.

I have read a verse in the bible Luke 6:27-38:  To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you… Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back… But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked… "Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."

Just see how God has given this message, there is no reason for you or for me to do something bad in order for us to be able to fight back. Instead, fight back by doing good to those who hurt you, to those who degraded you, to those who drag you down and most importantly, forgive and pray for them as the God Almighty has forgiven us from our sins.

To end this essay, I would like to share to everyone that no matter what problem you’re facing, always have faith in God, never forget to pray, and always give thanks to him whether you have received his blessings or not, always give thanks to him.

Love, forgive and pray for your enemies.

Love,

God’s Fighter
