Take you acrimonious words,

your hatred that’s spewed

from your venomous tongue;

I’ve already been tried,

found guilty

and then I’ve been hung by the neck

by a rope that’s not there,

forever to choke back

those words of self-defence.

Save my breath,

for no one will hear;

it’s clear that I’ll always be found

somewhat wanting;

always have been,

always will be.

But today you won’t bring me to tears;

for I’ll stand out in the open,

spread my arms wide,

and I’m going to rise...

Up with the crows, for I want no angels;

they belong to your past,

your present,

and have no place in my life.

Take your holier than thou attitude,

with your multitudinous sins,

while I’ll go wheeling and soaring,

a raucous symphony of cawing

with those that accept me for who I am.

My corvidae murder will take me in,

and among those black feathers,

sharp beaks and talons

I’ll perhaps find a home.
