Pebbles And Rocks

This ground beneath me

is strewn with rubble,

and I’ve got the feeling

that this means trouble.

Gonna grab me a broom

and I’m gonna get sweeping,

not one bit of dust

will I be keeping.

Still not happy

for those stones so small,

will trip me up,

and make me crawl.

Out with the pebbles,

out with the dust,

out with the fantasy

that goes with trust.

I’ve kept the rocks,

and these I’ll stack

to shore up my walls

against future attack.
