For Mac, it was a good day. He had done well at work today. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a stick of mint gum. He looked at it, unwrapped it, and popped it in his mouth. He looked down for a second to put the wrapper into his pocket. When he looked up he let out a gasp of shock and covered his eyes. Where it had been getting darker, it had suddenly gotten unnaturaly bright. Mac hit the brakes just before slamming into a white mini-van infront of him. He screached to a halt, before realising that the car wasn't moving. He looked around and realised that the man and his two kids had gotten out of the car and were looking at the sky. They were all half covering their eyes. Mac grabbed the handle of the door and pushed it open. He stepped out and looked at the sky. It seemed like there was an extremely bright light eminating from seemingly nowhere. Mac's eyes stung from not blinking. He rubbed his eyes and looked away. When he looked back again, the light was gone, and it had returned to the dim lighted afternoon. The dad and his two boys were standing there, the dad looking confused, and his kids looking like they had just seen godzilla or somthing. Mac stood there, had he imagined the whole thing? It had happend so fast, but no, his eyes still stung from looking at the light. His eyes swam with all the colors of the rainbow. He rubbed his eyes again and got back into his car. "That was weird." He said to himself. He buckled his seatbelt and waited for the people infront of him to go. It took about 3 minutes for them to finally go. Mac, got to his apartment at about 7:30. He unlocked the door and walked inside. He tossed his keys on the key rack and kicked the door shut with his heel. Then he plopped down on on the couch to watch sports.

Mac woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He searched frantically around before finding it under the couch. He pulled it up and answered it, It was his boss.

"Hello Mac, I'm sorry to inform you that you wont be needing to come to work today. We're letting you go, it's nothing personal, it's purely budgetary."

"Thank you for understanding"

Then they hung up. Mac lay there, looking at the celing in shock, still registering the infromation. He spent the rest of the day in the house moping around. The next day he started looking for a job, but there was nothing availible. He kept looking for a week, and found nothing. He was running dangerously low on funds, he only had about 2,500$ left. Then, he got the bad news that he was getting evicted.

"I'm very sorry Mac, but unless you can give me about 3,500$ right now, there's nothing I can do for you"

Mac cursed under his breath, looked up, and shook his head.

"Can I pack up?"

"I'll give you the rest of the day" said the landlord.

Mac stood there staring as the landlord turned and walked out the door, closing it behind himself.

This was the worst two weeks of Macs life. He packed his things into his suitcase and walked out the door. He sold most of his unessesary things right away, only keeping his clothes, his phone, and a portable charger. He lived like a homeless person for that week, but that might be because he was homeless now. That still hadn't sunk in for him just yet. It was monday again and he was doing ok. He had just walked out of a Cosco with a hotdog in hand, when he saw it. There was a man on the sidewalk who was on fire. Mac watched in stuned fascination as the man, screaming and batting at the flames covering his body, ran down the sidewalk, pushing people out of his way. The man tripped on a glass bottle and hit the ground. The flames went out immediatley. The thing that shocked Mac more than seeing a man on fire, was the that fact that the man got up, unscathed, unburned, and unharmed. The man turned to look at Mac, his eyes widened like he saw somthing that Mac didn't

"Look out!"

Then a semi-truck plowed right into Mac.
