Wandering the pages of ill-gotten wages

And looking for charity, not made of stone,

The sojourner travels until hope unravels

Only to find that he walks in a cone.

The deeper his tunnel the narrower the funnel

Until the only room left, is simply a hole.

He can’t turn around, so he utters a sound

To the god called money, void of a soul.

“Save me?” he asks, but too great is the task

For the idol's just numbers from it's head to its toes.

So the sojourner continues with his ill-gotten venues,

Still dealing deceitfully. For that's all that he knows.
