I just wrote this in three minutes in a brief time of inspiration so you'll have to forgive me if it's a little messy.

Happiness is not instant

It does not always come when we call

And we cannot always make it come

Happiness begins with seeds

Seeds you must bury

Little pieces of promise

But if you walk away

You will not receive that promise

You must nurture them

Protect them

Work for them

For a long while

Until you find the first taste of reward

Those first little sprouts you see

An array of fresh, vivid green

It's only the beginning of what's to come

And if you keep working at it

Happiness will blossom

Into silken waves of glory

Lush, fragrant pleasure

But it won't last forever

You'll always need to plant more seeds

Always need to protect them

If you want to grow happiness
