It's a frosty-breath winter

As day touches night

And I hear church-bells ringing

As the sun falls from sight.

Off in the distance

Some Carolers sing

About a child born of purpose

And the hope he would bring.

There's a chill in the air

But warmth in the soul

As I listen to the songs

And hear the bells toll.

No, it's not about religion

That makes my heart sing

Or brings a tear to the eye

When I hear the bells ring.

 They bring back emotions

And memories of the past,

Somehow reassuring

With heartstrings that last.

 And what is the harm

If the heart takes the time

To visit the season

In melodious rhyme?
