It is always a self portrait.

Using a mirror that is well used with thought filled stares and considering pauses.

I am a painter.

To understand what is perfect, I see the face of who I am in the moment, knowing that what I see will shift before me.

A brushstroke captures a shadow, an essence of a wrinkle in the corner of my eye. As I paint the crevasse found there, I always ask the question, while filling my pallet with ordinary colors, was it caused by joy or pain.

Or was it of the two combined, met in some strange space and time.

Staring deep into the glass, it becomes an endless canyon holding a flowing river of human emotion as laughter and tears collide.

When the painting is done, kept in light to be seen, what is, begins. A picture of now reflected back, met in reality and life.

And peace is found hung upon a wall as I view what is framed and fading in creative acceptence, in so  much of what is beyond my control.
