A poem about apples

APPLES

By John Ross Hart

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away

Immortal words from my mother

Take yourself a bite out of life

Drinking a taste like no other

Red or green, Golden Delicious

Picked fresh, sold, commercialized

From Gala to Gravenstein, to the orchards of Granny Smith

Crunchy, healthy, divine

Baked, boiled, crushed, and fried

Turned to juice, sauce, good ol' apple pie

And we love our apples, we gobble up tons

Never for once asking why
