Let me lick my wounds, let me cry tonight,

You’re deep inside my mind even if you’re out of sight.

Because I hurt for you and die of the same cause,

Baby you’re the grief and reason for my loss.

I love you very much although you cannot tell,

So why do you condemn me to this living hell?

I live and die for a single kiss,

Somehow along the way there was a memo that I missed.

I picture my life, I picture my death,

And baby, you are in every single breath.

I drink myself to death and you aren’t there,

Loving you is the gamble that is never fair.

Maybe this romance is too much for you to handle,

Every time I light a spark you quickly blow the candle.

Baby, I’d do anything for you, there lies the key,

But baby, will you live and also die for me?

A thoughtful poem. It made a lot of sense. I'm not sure about the syllable count, though. And because I'm NO poetic expert, I'll hold back my opinions. LOL

That's the beauty of poetry, it's Freestyle writing and free of rules of format :) thank you for taking the time to read and comment, friend.

Thank you so much, amigo. I was in a fractured state when I wrote this Saturday night. A little dramatic too lol. Alcohol has a way of doing that

So much pain and confusion in this. Life is tough and I hope things work out for you. Very well expressed, Lis.

Love how you focus more on the darkness, than the love itself. Your rhyming reflects what you are feeling, and those rhyming words contain a lot of emotion. At the same time, you are showing that your love is still blooming, even if someone can never see it. Deep and personal Lisbeth. Your pain is in your words, and so is your redemption. Beautiful and bitter at the same time. One of your finest poems. It's outstanding.

A love that has fallen flat or a knight who doesn't know how to remove his armour? A big comeback in any relationship is that we're not a mind reader, but it would certainly help navigate every relationship. Then again, it would make life a lot more dull.
I like how you use 'baby' through the piece - it's sweet and affectionate; a subtle display that the love is still there, waiting to be requited.

A lot of frustration as well as longing in this, jaylisbeth. Love can be heartbreaking.

I actually like how this swings out of its rhyme scheme, Lis, almost as this piem- this is how it should be, yet it is not. I hope you're feeling better

I think this perfectly describes wanting a specific person to be your ride or die, but also struggling with the fact that you know that they're incapable of being so. It's a realization that can be incredibly crushing. Well done, love, I've missed you so much!

I love the duality at play here! This piece flows as smoothly as a simple creek but also fierce as the raging rivers. Simply excellent.

If I have a someone who is willing to love me so. I certainly will die for them. Love is a two-ways thing. It takes two terminals to make the spark. Amazing poem! Poet Queen.
