In a prior essay I wrote about the meaning of the cross. It has been put forth as a symbol of hope which I can fathom within the context of Christianity. But it is a religious idea which I find personally repulsive and far less than spiritual in nature.

For this piece I'd like to present a symbol which is much closer to actual spirituality.

The star of David as a part of Judaism is connected to formal god dominant religion where it has its own context as biblical history. Then there is the star of Bethlehem which is connected to the crucifixion. The star is also used as a part of the religion of Islam.

Considert this signifigant symbol in a different way, one free of the standard religious dogma.

Imagine the first conscious people of Earth found on every early continent. Their understanding of human existence came from material reality surrounding them, the challenge of life itself was met there.

Wonderment must have come to mind after observing birth and death.

It was looking up to the stars which most likely inspired the first imagining of something beyond that of physical existence.

Early science considered the source of the stars as a continuing energy. In sprituality it is understood that we also are a part of that energy.

It's why the star is a truly creative symbol when used in a space of spiritual focus.
