Don’t Get Me Wrong

Somehow it seems that I’ve allowed

a series of misconceptions

to develop around me.

I’m not all doom and gloom,

in love with the dark side,

but in fact begin almost every day

with a positive outlook

and a slate wiped clean.

The problem lies in life

as opposed to sleeping,

for it does not take long for

someone or something

to knock me off kilter;

to muddy the water

and bloody the mind.

The slate becomes spattered

by tears and despair

but the thing is

they were not always there.

While I sleeping

that slate will be scrubbed and boiled

ready for another day of hope

that will at some stage

become shattered.

Jade Krystalline

I love this one and I can definitely relate. It kind of reminds me of our inner cycles of death and rebirth.

It's like in the darkness we can camouflage ourselves, so the things that ruin life cannot see us for a moment. The opening of daylight, and all of our hiding places are gone. Daily life takes away that solitude we have in the darkness, and it tries to easily sway us by showing us something else. Daily life traps us, and that's when positivity becomes sadness. Excellent writing Hully. Your wording is killer.

Sometimes there are days when I'd definitely rather stay asleep, or at least hidden in the shadows. I think you understand what I'm trying to say.
Thanks, Dexter.
