Abreaction Reaction

This won’t hurt,” he said,

sliding in the needle,

thal

into the bloodstream.

It will, however,

help to loosen your tongue.”

Grip tight to the mind

for you know what he’s looking for,

some secret that is

buried deep.

And so it begins

as he tries to drag you back through time.

Do you remember when...”

Don’t listen. Blank it out,

that intrusion.

Perhaps I’m a bad subject for hypnosis

for he certainly is not getting very far.

Go younger, seems to be his ploy,

reduced to infancy

there will be no resistance.

But what he did not seem to see

was that whatever was there

was held firmly

under lock

and key.

Not even visible

to me.

And so I screamed it out,

Get out! Get out!”

And he tried to bring me back

from his induced regression,

the one which I was never under.

His truth drug,

his hypnosis,

did not have the long forgotten

code that would open up

the memories

buried deep within

my mind.

Thanks, Mike. This was based on an encounter with psychiatry when I was 14 years old.

This is shocking, Hully... the power of a resistant mind to keep those memories locked away. Extremely well expressed!
