When my old motorcycle boots started ripping at the heel, I needed new ones. So, tongue in cheek, I say farewell with my “Ode to my old Ridin’ Boots”.

These boots are old and faded,

Their soles are worn away,

I've had them for many years now,

More than I can count anyway.

I wore them over my socks,

With their laces tied up high,

So old I must replace them,

And now I have to try.

These boots are the ones I wore on every exciting motorcycle ride,

Where I could ignore the world,

And never pretended why.

These boots were the pillows for my feet, through a ride on the old Blue Ridge,

They protected my feet through all the stop and starts,

And made it through all my rides,

They have always been with me,

And now I must say good-bye.

These boots are grand old relics

With a great old history

And now I must throw them out,

For they cannot go on with me,

I wore them over my socks,

With their laces tied up high

So old I must replace them,

And now I have to try.
