Earl Moore, the old magician, smoked his favorite pipe in his majestic looking ancient study.

He watched the bright lamps, and waited. The books were open on the mahogany desk. He stared at the windows, and waited. The door was open. Three other magicians arrived. "Retirement is on the cards", Ronald said.

"In two weeks' time", Earl stated.

"Yes, it is", Ronald said.

"We know about your plans", Earl said.

"I see".

He looked at the men.

"I'm seventy years' old. I'm not that old".

"What about your wife, Emma?", Ronald asked him.

"She's waiting for me", he answered.

He waited.

He looked at the dark part of the spacious room.

There was a knock on the door.

"Enter!", Earl uttered.

A girl arrived.

"Grandpa, here's your tea and cake".

"Thank you, Anne".

"Who are these people?".

"Magicians. They're ready to leave".

Anne nodded.

She had long, black hair, blue eyes, and petite.

As the magicians left, Earl grinned.

"Tell your Grandma that we'll enjoy not working by tomorrow".

"Okay, Grandpa".

And she kissed him on the cheek, and they had afternoon tea together.

On the desk was several spell books.

They were left unread.
