My Walk With Christ

Brian Lee Clements

I became a Christian when I was sixteen,

At the time I thought it was pretty keen,

But my walk with Him has been rough at times,

When I didn't even have a dime,

Seeing what my parents went through,

And what I went through too,

Birth, growth, adoption and death

And everything in between,

It’s hard sometimes to figure out what it means,

First love, lost love, marriage and divorce

And sometimes it’s tough to get through all this, of course.

Friendships change, some move and even drift away.

Some pass on

And some may even stay on,

It’s been a long haul and I’m sure He gets tired,

When I’m complaining when I’m down or wired.

I’ve always wondered what He has planned for me,

Because I don’t have it to a tee.

Sometimes it feels like everything weighs a ton,

But, I’ve always been told the best is yet to come.

At times, my walk has been hot and also cold as ice,

But the one thing that I know never changes

Is my walk with Christ.

Such a lovely and uplifting poem. I feel the way you do too. Sometimes you feel so tired and want to give up, but then you remember that He was always there for you in the worst of times. Thank you for writing this wonderfully inspiring poem.

Such a lovely poem. The wonderful thing about Christ is that He is always there walking beside us, even when things can be pretty bad. I'm very glad I read your poem today

Brilliant! I love it! So poignant, so relatable, so true! It is worth it my brother, every last failure because He raises us out of the ung heap we find ourselves in!

The Mind Breaker

I am by no means a child of God. To put my spirituality bluntly I am a worshipper of demons. I aid those vengeful spirits that walk the dark and lonely wilderness of broken lands we call earth. You are a good writer and I can respect your popularity. I can even like what you have written because it reminds me of my past before I became a Warlock. Therefore I can empathize with your curiosity of God's plan for his creation but the main question I have is can you empathize with someone who is your complete opposite spiritually? You can't preach to those who you think may be "tainted" by evil until you can actually understand them. If you don't understand evil then your walk with Christ may become colder then you think!

Beautiful poem,Brian. And while I find my faith lacking, I for sure believe in God and the sacrifice Jesus made. Unfortunately, I fear whether he has a plan or not, or if we're just here, all trying our best. I don't know. Take care and be well, my friend.

Simplicity is the best option. I think those of us with Christian faith can relate. The only thing that bothered me was the spacing between lines.

Very beautiful poem,
I say, either I can go through this life alone, try to make it, go through a hard time and fail.

I can go through this life with Jesus, try to make it, Realize I need Jesus to make it, go through a hard time With Jesus holding me up, and fail, knowing Jesus is right there to carry me and pick me back up on my feet and encourage me to keep going.

?? Keep writing! I believe writing is the best thing anyone can do, I always feel so much better after I write what’s on my heart! God Bless~
