My Walk With Christ

Brian Lee Clements

I became a Christian when I was sixteen,

At the time I thought it was pretty keen,

But my walk with Him has been rough at times,

When I didn't even have a dime,

Seeing what my parents went through,

And what I went through too,

Birth, growth, adoption and death

And everything in between,

It’s hard sometimes to figure out what it means,

First love, lost love, marriage and divorce

And sometimes it’s tough to get through all this, of course.

Friendships change, some move and even drift away.

Some pass on

And some may even stay on,

It’s been a long haul and I’m sure He gets tired,

When I’m complaining when I’m down or wired.

I’ve always wondered what He has planned for me,

Because I don’t have it to a tee.

Sometimes it feels like everything weighs a ton,

But, I’ve always been told the best is yet to come.

At times, my walk has been hot and also cold as ice,

But the one thing that I know never changes

Is my walk with Christ.
