Depression (chapter 3)
Sometimes sadness
Washes over me
Like a sneaker
With no true legitimacy
My soul is engulfed
In a blackness
That blots out
Any hope, love or reason
That I can see
In my day to day
I take the time
To make the effort
To be productive and prudent and fair
When I’m alone I set aside
That responsibility
Once the sun goes down
I just don’t care
There’s a balance
Striving to exist
In the universe
That matches every high
With a low
My life has been blessed
Maybe more so than the rest
But at the end
What have I got to show
Has my time here
Made a difference
I’d have to say no

Ah, SB, I think an awful lot of people are going to relate to this. I've never thought of depression in relation to a sneaker before so...
